  • 8 Hour RIT (9/2)

    8 Hour RIT (9/2)

    Lead Instructor: Kenny Hayes

Most MAYDAYs are declared within the first 15 minutes of a fire. 90% of all mayday rescues aren't made by the RIT but by crews already operating nearby. IS YOUR DEPARTMENT PREPARED TO RETHINK RIT? This is not your typical RIT course. This is a fast-paced program that will challenge participants to perform RIT operations in situations that reflect the statistics. You will be challenged to rescue real firemen, not mannequins, from mayday situations that arise suddenly, before the lines, ladders, and even the RIT are in place.

This class includes minimal classroom time and practical stations on RIT positions, drags, lifts, and carries, SCBA confidence, and RIT equipment.

The class continues with three of the most common scenarios encountered in mayday situations. These scenarios are guaranteed to challenge the participants physically and mentally to best create the stress of an actual RIT rescue.

  • 16 Hour Advanced Metal Cutting (9/2-3)

16 Hour Advanced Metal Cutting (9/2-3)

This class is designed to delve deep into the process of cutting a wide variety of metals. From stainless steel to aluminum and everything in between this class is designed to teach rescuers to size up different metals, select the proper cutting tools, and finally cut a wide variety of metals. • 8 Hour Rope (9/2)

8 Hour Rope (9/2) [Sold Out]

    Lead Kelly Byrne

This 8 hour Hands on Training class will look at the latest, best practices involved in operating a Two Tension Rope System utilizing MPD’s as well as the newly released Clutch device. Additionally, we will have a session looking at the forces placed on aerial apparatus when rigged for rope rescue. The best (and worst!) rigging will be looked at with load cells in place to see what kind of forces are actually being placed on the system. An in depth look at the setup and use of the Appalachian Doortex for elevator hoistway anchoring will be presented, with a critical look at how and where the forces are being applied.

  • 16 Hour Heavy Lifting (9/2-3)

16 Hour Heavy Lifting (9/2-3) [Sold Out]

    Lead Instructor: Paul DeBartolomeo

Stabilizing, lifting & capturing are the three vital components associated with a successful rescue operation when dealing with a confirmed pin. Remove any one of these, and the results could be disastrous for the victim and rescuers. This class is designed to provide students with a better understanding of the lifting & stabilization equipment typically used in the fire service. The objective of this class is to build a solid operational foundation based on the three aspects of lifting (stabilization, lifting, & capturing) and tying them together to insure a positive outcome. The focus will be Hands on Learning as the students rotate through real life scenarios involving motor vehicles, construction equipment, and big rigs. Students will get plenty of tool time while operating as a member of a rescue team using high pressure airbags, hydraulic jacks, hydraulic rescue tools, Res-q-Jacks, Struts, Griphoists, chain & binders etc.
